Bathtime for Nikoma

2/13/17 Email:

Howdy Y'all,

So week 6 here in Tuba has been crazy...

After I had got done emailing last week, we decided we were going to go play football at one of the high schools here.  This field, umm..., well, there are horses that like to chill there, and so there is horse chaw everywhere, and nobody seems to care or mind.  Anyway, it was during school, so nobody was on it, and we were out there playing. We only got to play for like 30 minutes until one of the security guys at the school came and kicked us off, which I thought was weird because they don't care about horses on it, and it's not like we were taking dumps on their property. Anyway after we got kicked off we went to the church and played basketball.  The gym floor at our church is quite slippery, so traction is a big problem.  So one of the elders from Cameron, he is also our District Leader, Elder Stott, was running around with the ball and was going in circles trying to get to the basket. He got pretty close but... he slipped and fell.  It was so funny to watch , and as soon as he hit the ground we hit the ground too laughing our heads off!!  So that was pretty fun.

I took on the Little Caesars challenge on Tuesday and ate 2 whole pizzas. That was hard, and I felt so bad after, but its a good thing because now I hate Little Caesars.

Wednesday we had our Zone Conference/Mission Tour with Elder Arnold!  It was really good, That man has such a great spirit, and you can just feel the love he has for the gospel as well as his wife and all of us missionaries.  One of the things we talked about was working with church leaders, and he invited our stake presidents to talk about what they think we should do to work with them.  Our stake president, President Justice, talked about just coming over and visiting with him, and he looked directly at me and my companion for about a minute and said, "Come to my house," and he said it like 3 times while looking at us, so I think we got the message, haha.  But when we went over later in the week he wasn't home so were still going to try and get in with him.  But it was really good, and we learned a lot!

The next couple of days were just rough because we were so exhausted, and drained. Then Saturday came around, and it honestly felt like a P-Day. We did a lot of service and so we wore regular clothes for most of the day which was pretty awesome.  My companion gave a haircut to one of our investigators, and then after that I was asked if I would wash one of our member.s puppies, so here is me and the puppy Nikoma before the bath.

Now you can't tell me that if someone asked you to give this fluffball a bath that you would say no.  I couldn't do that, she is just too cute.  But, much like my dog back home, Max, she didn't like baths. So I had to get in with her just like I did with max, and I got just about as wet as her...

So yeah, that was pretty fun!  In the last picture I am looking at my companion who had passed out on the couch...  But I enjoyed it either way!

On Sunday we were cooking dinner for one of our investigator/recent convert families and it was the first time we tried cooking anything like this. It was this chicken roll up thing, that had mushrooms, pesto (but we used guacamole because we couldn't find any pesto at the store), and cheese stuffed inside, so we were just hoping it would turn out alright.  It did and was actually kinda good, so props to us.  But that is about it for this past week.  We do have 2 baptisms scheduled for this week so hopefully they don't fall through!!

Love Y'all

Miracles and Blessings

2/6/17 Email:

So this week was a really good week for the most part. I'm still sick so that is a downer, but I am slowly getting over it.

So we started off really strong, and we had a lot of really good lessons, then Thursday rolled around, we had a really good Zone Training, but after, because I was sick, and exhausted, we were sitting in our trailer, and I passed out for 4 hours!!  It was a good nap, but I couldn't sleep the rest of the night. But after that it just seemed like everything slowed way down.  But then Sunday came around, and not only was it a wonderful blessing to partake of the Sacrament, but we had 11 investigators, and about 20 less actives come to church!!!

What is weird about that is that I never really thought that I would be happy because people came to church, but boy I was happy!!  It just made me so happy to see these people come to church, and to be able to be a part of the Spirit that was there.  Everyone of them we asked said that it was a really good meeting and that they really enjoyed it, and that was a blessing.  We had about 80 people overall and that was the biggest I've ever seen our ward get since I've been here!  I'm just so happy to see that the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Spirit that we share with those we teach is having an affect on them for the better.  I know that this gospel can bring a change in our lives for the better, and we can be happier because of it.  It has taken me a long time to understand that but because of our Savior Jesus Christ I know that this is true, and nothing will change my mind about that.

That's about it for this past week, but this week we are having a mission tour, which Elder Arnold of the Seventy is coming, so that will be fun, and I'm excited for that.

But I hope y'all have a good week, and that you will be able to see how the gospel can bring happiness to your life!

Love you all,
Hagoneh
